I spent about 5 months in this sort of state where I still worked my first career. What I did was finish a contract for a role that I’m ‘supposed’ to be in— a higher level position I am expected to hold after completing the last academic credential. Instead of going right into another similar role, I took a step back and stayed still.

This was troubling for some of my colleagues that didn’t understand why I’m holding myself back. Thankfully, having the script, helped fend some of that external confusion away.

I used this time to well… make money and also at the same time preserve some mental capacity to chip away at figuring out what I wanted to research my options.

 

What I also did in this time to read a variety of books/articles and opinions that inspire me to continue in this process. I’m not much of an optimist, so I was deliberately gathering some encouragement from other sources.
