Putting it all together

the last few exercises + possible career choices

After the last few posts of doing theoretical (possibly mildly annoying) exercises, it's time to put them to use.

What I attempted to do was pull up 3 other careers that I was interested in, based on what other things I already did and was good at. I didn't rule out any jobs that I'd always thought "would be interesting" that I might be decent at. The point of the exercise was to really explore if they're viable options versus just jobs that I liked the idea of but in actuality, the practical aspects don't align with the ‘image’ of it.

(You could pick more than 3; I just didn't want an overwhelming amount to legit research. Plus, it'll already force you to narrow things down by limiting your starting number of possibilities.)

These were my picks:

  1. Architecture - I'd always thought this would be really cool; one of my 'daydream' jobs. As an artist I’m drawn to the idea of being able to use my art to make a living. It’s also a conventionally celebrated career

  2. Horticulture - broad field, from being a gardener to propagating plants for wholesale

  3. Writing - super ambiguous, nothing backing this other than the fact I'm a good writer and writing is one of those things I've always come back to even if it 'made no money' just to do for myself. (hence this blog)

Tying in personal strengths, values and motivators, the spread roughly looks a little like this:

Next post we'll talk about what to do with these picks!
